Are We Victims?

Do you have a credit card? If you do then you are probably a victim. Have you ever made a contract with anyone? You talk about the terms and you write them down on paper, sometimes with an attorney, and you have a contract that will last until the end of your business relationship. (In the old days we had a handshake) If you have ever read the fine print on a contract with a credit card company you know that they are above the law. They may change the terms of the contract at any time and you cannot do anything about it. They have special status and may change terms at any time regardless of whether or not it is fair or subject to any rules. Why can any industry stand above the law or make their own rules? These people are RAPING us by changing the rules at will. This can result is literally thousands of dollars being taken from our pockets with little more than a cursory notification that may or may not be “up front” with us. Sometimes they bury this notification in a monthly bill that we have been getting for years. We may only find out when we look at our bill only to find out that it is $100 higher or more per month in payments. This is enough to make a dent in my pocket book and has happened to me.

I challenge you to take any credit card offer you find in your mailbox and read the fine print. Find out what the company is really contracting with you to do and then think about the offer. I will be willing to bet you that they have an open ended contract that allows them to hold all the cards and change the offer at will to virtually anything. We have to combat this threat to our livihood… Look for more information from me about this subject. Thanks for listening.

  1. A timely warning Gary,
I liken credit card companies to drug-pushers.The only way to escape their clutches is to try and avoid addiction to credit.I am speaking from personal experience as an ex-bankrupt.

  2. I do agree with you, Gary. We are on the painful receiving end of these agreements, as many of us have found out to our expense.

    Enjoy the journey.

  3. Hi Gary,

what a great post! By design I tear up every offer that comes my way. Especially now, CCC raise interest left and right! In the end, you spend your well earned $$ on interest alone. I may not have the newest stuff of the newest, but I refuse to buy into the CC craze and dependency!

    Thank you for speaking up,
    Svenja

  4. Hi Gary, great post and very, very true. Unfortunatley i can’t take up your challenge as they make the print so small that it just looks like shading across the page, even with my glasses on!!
So for me i have trouble reading it never mind understanding it, ha ha.

Keep up the great posts my friend.
    Regards, Barry
